Grasshopper trappers urged to adhere to set guidelines by authorities to avoid interference

Written by on 11/11/2021

Grasshopper trappers in Bwamiramira Sub County in Kibaale District have been briefed on key issues and guidelines on how to operate in this November- December Grasshopper trapping season without interference.

Addressing grasshopper trappers at Kyabahangwe village in Kikaada LCI, Ssebastian Bamugonze Byaruhanga the Bwamiramira Sub County Chief asked them to pay lincense, prohibit children from accessing trapping places and compiling the list of all grasshopper trappers for security reasons among others.

Grasshopper trappers have however complained of high taxes levied from them saying that the charges between Shs35, 000 and 50,000 required from them as lincense is much money given the risks associated with their business.

In response, Byaruhanga Sebastian says that he will address their issues to the Sub County council for possible solution. Swale Ndifuna from UEDCL Kibaale Branch asked grasshoppers trappers to have special electricity meters in order to curb electricity inconveniences.
